DUTCH CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS

The Christmas market in Valkenburg remains an excellent choice. This nostalgic Christmas market is held in the Municipal Cave, at the bottom of the famous Cauberg and is now one of the most visited Christmas markets in Europe. By visiting the adventurous, underground corridors, you will find yourself in a magical world full of lights, music and surprises. You will find beautiful Christmas stalls and decorations here and you can find the greatest gifts to your heart's content. What is the real Christmas market atmosphere? That is of course much more than just the real Christmas feeling. For example, everything that belongs to winter also belongs here. Just like the outdoors is part of this. That makes the Country & Christmas Fair in Utrecht so suitable for a visit. The decor also contributes to this, as the fair is organised in the gardens of Castle De Haar. Everything is perfectly organised for a great day.
If you are wondering what a floating Christmas market is, then you should check it out for yourself in Leiden. Here you will find the only floating Christmas market you will encounter in the Netherlands. The Christmas market has been set up on a plateau that has been placed on the water in the Nieuwe Rijn. All 75 decorated chalets are placed on this and here you will find everything you need to make Christmas a perfect party.
The Christmas dinner is not only about the fun and delicious food, but the decoration around it is also very important. A freshly set table with candles and napkins naturally looks much more chic than when you set the table as you do in everyday life. Of course you start by putting down a tablecloth. The just a little extra attention to making the table beautiful is certainly nice when you are creative. You can respond very nicely to various details such as making menus or personal name plates for the plates (recipe).
